Tim Horton's Free Holiday Skating
During the holiday break, when many families can get out and spend some quality time with one another, local community centres held free skates on various pads to accommodate the influx of people looking for things to do. Sponsored by Tim Horton’s, the Free Community Skates were an excellent way for citizens of the city to remain active during the relatively cold winter holiday season. On December 30th, I strapped on my skates and the camera to join the afternoon session at Al Palladini Community Centre to catch a few of the participants in action – while ensuring that I myself did not join the few tumblers that inevitably make their way to the ice during these occasions. The event was a huge success, as thousands of people made their way to the community centre and took full advantage of the opportunity afforded to them. People of all ages were on hand, helping to bring the community together one glide at a time.
