Seniors Talent On Play (STOP)

Recently, elderly performers have made a return to the public eye in a myriad of pop culture sensations. Sophia Loren’s appearance in Nine, for instance, shows that the spotlight is reserved for the young at heart rather than the numbers that appear on your birth certificate. The Senior’s Initiative of Performing Arts (SIPA) provided an avenue for local seniors to get their groove on and show their immense talent in a variety of disciplines. Seniors Talent on Play (STOP) brought out some of the best singers, dancers, and dramatic performers from within the city limits. The depth of diversity among the senior talent was immense as various cultures were represented among the acts. Truly remarkable was the turnout, as families, friends, and local dignitaries made the pilgrimage to Vellore Village Community in what, hopefully, was not a once in a lifetime experience for all involved.
The project is funded in part by the Government of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors Program and is supported by many multicultural seniors groups and organizations. The next event is scheduled in March; For more information contact Human Endeavour at 905-832-6842 or visit www.humanendeavour.org.
