York Central Hospital Foundation's 7th Annual Strides For Stroke
What beautiful weather the first weekend of May brought to us here in the York Region. The amazing weather reflected the spirits of all 800 individuals at Richmond Green in Richmond Hill on May 5th. Everyone present was there for one great cause - The York Central Hospital Foundation’s 7th Annual Strides for Stroke. As each participant made their way to registration, over 100 volunteers kept busy making sure that the event ran perfectly for all involved. Just before the opening ceremonies commenced, The TD Canada Trust Group surprised the crowd as they entered the event with an eager group of 200 individuals all ready to run and show their support for the York Central Hospital Foundation. Following the opening speeches, Anna from To Be Fit, got everyone’s blood pumping as she ran a warm up to get the participants loose and ready. The run began with youth runners participating in a small race of their own. Afterwards, the adults, young and old, gathered at the starting line and ran the 5KM course, knowing that their efforts would benefit stroke patients in the future. Medals were awarded to the top 3 runners upon the completion of the 5K and everyone enjoyed great refreshments and some light snacks. The event could not have gone more perfectly as everyone enjoyed the perfect weather and their own efforts in making a difference; helping to raise $125,000 for the York Region District Stroke Program at York Central Hospital.
