17th Annual Israel Day Festival
First established back in 1921, Na’amat (a Hebrew acronym of Nashim Ovdot Umitnadvot meaning Movement of Working Women and Volunteers) has been striving to enhance the lives of women, children and families both in Israel and Canada. On June 3rd, the Na’amat of Canada, celebrated the 17th Annual Israel Day Festival right here in Vaughan. The rain that day didn’t stop guests from attending the festivities at York Hill Park in Thornhill. With so much to do the day was fun for the entire family. Guests arrived close to lunch time, giving everyone the opportunity of enjoying a variety of traditional Middle Eastern foods. For some, trying this food was a first time experience! Throughout the entire event, a variety of live entertainment was performed on the Showmobile Stage, with guests enjoying traditional, cultural entertainment. If that wasn’t enough, multiple vendors were set up throughout the Park and guests had the opportunity of enjoying some of their time in a lively marketplace. All participants enjoyed one of the highlights, meeting many dignitaries and bidding farewell to special guest, the Counsul General of Israel- Amir Gissin.
