6th Annual SavourYork Region Thanksgiving Food Drive
While Thanksgiving is always a time for all of us to take inventory of the things we have to be thankful for, it’s also a time to realize how fortunate many of us are and that the only way to properly appreciate that good fortune is by giving back to someone who may not be. It was in that spirit that the 6th Annual Savour York Region Thanksgiving Food Drive in support of the Vaughan Food Bank took place on October 6th. The event itself is becoming a staple during the Thanksgiving weekend, and this year’s congregation at the Fortinos on Ansley Grove Rd. & Hwy 7 kept that tradition alive in a big way.
The fight against hunger is won with a single donation at a time and folks braved the wind to make sure their donations could be counted on for families in need at Thanksgiving dinners all across this community. Besides the efforts of Savour York Region organizers Elvira Caria & Nadia Cerelli-Fiore, local businesses also stepped up in a big way. Everyone who made a donation was able to enjoy some lunch from Pizzaville, Rich's Products, Mokarabia espresso coffee, and food sampling from the good people at Casa Italia. And, for music lovers, the Z103.5 Street Team was also on site with their Top 40 hits providing a lively soundtrack to a great afternoon.
We all can make a huge difference in the lives of the less fortunate and events like the 6th Annual Savour York Region Thanksgiving Food Drive lead the way in helping to keep the Vaughan Food Bank open all year long.
