13th Annual Santafest Parade in Maple
The 13th annual SantaFest parade kicked off the holiday season in Vaughan on November 25th. Thousands of residents and visitors of this great city lined the streets to catch a glimpse of some local favourites and of course, a special visitor who came all the way from the North Pole. The parade route began at Canada's Wonderland and finished at Vaughan City Hall.
As is the case every year, the parade had incredible floats, marching groups, and local bands. Some of the highlights included floats from Rock This Way Vaughan & Vaughan Soccer Club, while Miss Woodbridge made her way along the route courtesy of Roy Foss Woodbridge. The man of the hour however was Jolly Ol’ St. Nick himself. Santa was met with huge smiles throughout the route and we’re sure there were a few children already thinking of what to ask for, while making plans to get themselves on the “Nice” list in time for Christmas.
The City of Vaughan staff, sponsors, and volunteers deserve kudos for getting everyone in the Christmas spirit hosting a wonderful event. There were prizes handed out as well on November 25th. A big congratulations goes out to Blessed Trinity, Divine Mercy, & L’Ecole Elementaire Catholique Le Petit Prince for sharing the nod for the School category. The Best Commercial entrant was won by Rock This Way Vaughan, while the Vaughan Soccer Club and Maple Community won the prize for Best Community Sports and Best Community Group entrants respectively.
