Youth Bocce Canada's Christmas Banquet

Over 350 athletes with disabilities in York Region and the GTA benefit from the work done by Youth Bocce Canada, which uses the sport to promote social skills, good sportsmanship, and community. SNAP was invited to take part in the 19th Annual Christmas Banquet, held each year to honour special champions from the corresponding calendar year. During the event, held this year at Eagles Nest Golf Club, trophies were handed out to this year’s tournament winners, as well as $8,000 in Bursary Awards, 130 Christmas gifts, and even a special Mother of the Year award. Jim Jordan, President of Special Olympics Canada (1990-2005) was the day’s Keynote Speaker, touching on the benefits of creating an inclusive community for those with disabilities and how working towards that is more of a benefit to those who are privileged enough to make it happen. Jason Polsinelli from Scotiabank was also honoured during the proceedings. Jason and Scotiabank are big supporters of Youth Bocce Canada and an integral community partner. Those in attendance were also entertained by event MC Sam Ciccolini and the musical stylings of Domenic Mancuso. We want to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone involved in this year’s hugely successful banquet, and invite all of you to visit www.youthbocce.com for a comprehensive look at the year that was for this incredible organization.
