Papis Joins Ferrari GT Series Team at Big Announcement in Vaughan
Ferrari of Ontario recently hosted a media reception to announce big plans for Ferrari’s upcoming 2013 Rolex GT series entry. It was announced that Max Papis would be joining last year’s Rolex GT series champion, Jeff Segal, in the #61 R. Ferri Motorsports AIM Motorsport with Ferrari’s entry this year. Both drivers, as well as Remo Ferri (President of Ferrari of Ontario) & Marco Mattiacci (President & CEO of Ferrari North America), all spoke of the impact the #61 car and the addition of Papis will have on the upcoming season. For Papis, this is a reunion as he partnered with Ferri Motorsports & Ferrari 17 years ago and spoke fondly of the journey that has brought the two men back together on the race track again. For Segal, he answered questions on his expectations for the upcoming season, saying that he was glad that, after last year, what’s expected of him has been ratcheted up – especially under the new circumstances. The event, which took place on November 26th, should have big implication on whether or not this year’s Rolex GT Series plays out like last year. One thing is for certain, everyone is anxious for the first race, the 51st annual Grand-Am Series event, set for Daytona International Speedway at the end of January.
