Minister Fantino Pitches in at Local Food Bank
On December 8th, Mr. and Mrs. Fantino, with over 25 members of the Vaughan Conservative Association and family members, volunteered at the Vaughan Food Bank as a way to give back during this Christmas season. This has become an annual tradition for the Vaughan Conservative Association, initiated in 2011. “Peter Wixson and his dedicated team of volunteers here at the Vaughan Food Bank do a great job throughout the year, but around Christmas they find themselves overwhelmed with the demand,” said Minister Fantino. “Coming out today is the least we could do to give back to the Vaughan community and at the same time instill in our members and volunteers a sense of civic duty.” The group sorted donated goods, packaged Christmas Hampers and assisted Peter Wixson with duties required around the Food Bank. Throughout the year, the Vaughan Food Bank provides an estimated 4,000 meals a day in addition to providing food items to seven other York Region charities.
