Sandra Whiting Visits Vaughan to Celebrate Black History Month

On February 5th, Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) presented storyteller Sandra Whiting, who shared folktales and legends from the rich, oral traditions of West Africa and the Caribbean at Dufferin Clark Library. Whiting used authentic patois and assorted dialects from her native Jamaica to engage and educate guests, which included Grade 8 students from Glen Shields Public School. Additional author visits and programs, as well as art exhibits that explored Black culture, occurred throughout the month of February at various library locations. The VPL was thorough in providing destinations where the citizens of Vaughan could celebrate and share the historical and present contributions of Black Canadians last month.
