Ward 4 Civic Hero Award Winner

The Civic Hero Award for Ward 4 was presented to Rossana Burgos by Vaughan Council on January 15th. Mrs. Burgos was recognized for her volunteerism and leadership through her work with the parent council at Herbert. H. Carnegie Public School. Mrs. Burgos joined the parent council in 2008 and has served as co-chair and chair. Council activities include organizing events where families gather and get acquainted such as sports, bingo, school fundraisers and movie nights. “Rossana sets an example for the school community, and she encourages the parents and students to give back as well, by volunteering their time and talents,” said Ward 4 Councillor Sandra Yeung Racco, who nominated Mrs. Burgos for the award. The Civic Hero Award is presented annually to one resident from each of the five local wards of Vaughan. The awards recognize outstanding achievement and individual contributions to the community.
