9th Annual Family Literacy Day
Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) and the City Playhouse Theatre teamed up to offer people in the community a memorable way to celebrate Family Literacy Day. On January 23rd, guests put on their favourite pyjamas and enjoyed a variety of activities in the lobby and on the stage at City Playhouse. The highlight among many for guests was a special one-of-a-kind reading of Miss Mousie’s Blind Date by author Tim Beiser. The reading also included Tim showcasing the poem that got him started as a children’s book writer, and on top of the puppet shows and read-a-long activities, made for a great way for families to share in the love of reading. The event was free of charge and is just one of many examples of the VPL’s commitment to encouraging families in the community to make reading a family activity.
