Family Hockey Day in Thornhill
In honour of this country’s national sport, Canadian Tire Jumpstart, Stop-it, alongside Event Organizer David Cohen, launched Thornhill’s very own Family Hockey Day. Family members grabbed their hockey equipment and gathered at the Stephen Lewis Secondary School outdoor courts to participate in a friendly game of hockey. Teams of eight took to the outdoor pad and each team showed off their skills throughout the day as they vied for the title. Since the event was aimed to benefit a charitable cause, the focal point was not simply winning, but rather “to giving every young athlete a chance to participate in organized sports,” according to a pre-event release. The event’s proceeds went towards supporting young athletes across the GTA. The event was capped off with much festivities and BBQ treats for all to enjoy.
