37th Thornhill Village Festival
Recognized as the Festival brimming with entertainment, it is no surprise that the Thornhill Village Festival has been a calendar filler for people in the Thornhill community since 1977. While awakening the history of Thornhill, the event remains to be a hit amongst locals who continue to request its return. And, as a result of its popularity, every year the festival makes an appearance to help keep the tradition alive and well. Returning for it’s 37th appearance last month, we were proud to join the countless community members –new and familiar to the event—to once again celebrate the vibrant history and culture that lives within the community. Similar to last year, the festivities featured entertainment for the young and young at heart. Attendees had a variety of activities to choose from, including fun at KidsTowne, an Art Show, live and great music, or a few pints at the Lion’s Beer Garden. While deliciously prepared treats were provided, guests could also pamper themselves with gifts from the approximately 200 vendors who marked the area, while also learning a few historical facts on Thornhill through the battle re-enactments that took place on site. The event certainly managed to once again prove to be an extremely entertaining event that also fostered community spirit and helped celebrate the community’s enriched history and diverse cultural traditions.
