Vaughan's 12 Year Old Queen of the Diamonds
Vaughan native Caitlin Tomotsugu was among 13 members of the Gold Medal winning Team Ontario squad at the 2013 16U Girls National Baseball Championships. Team Ontario went 4-2 in Round Robin play and qualified to play against Quebec in the Gold medal game, winning 7-1 in the finals. Caitlin, at only 12 years old, was the youngest attendee this year. Caitlin made a couple of appearances in the first couple of games, however she figured prominently in the fourth game against BC, pitching a complete game to pace her team to a 12-2 win while garnering the MVP award for her team in that contest. Caitlin has played Rep baseball with the Thornhill Reds for the past three years. She wants to continue on with rep baseball and hopes she will be successful in tryouts for Team Ontario in the coming years.
