Under the Umbrella Tree Receives Funds for an Outdoor Playground
It was an exciting day as staff and children at Under the Umbrella Tree eagerly awaited the arrival of Vaughan Mayor, Maurizio Bevilacqua. Upon arrival he delivered a cheque for $5,000 that will fund the construction of a playground for the children with developmental disabilities. This grand gesture was inspired by the event, Building Muscles for Autism held last June by the owners of Pure Motivation Fitness, Dimitri and Francessa, at the Belaggio in Vaughan that raised a whopping $12000! The playground will play a vital role in developing their gross motor, fine motor and social skills and aid in UTUT’s overall goal of reintegrating the children into the educational system with their peers. The owner, Lolly Herman, was overjoyed to announce that the children will be able to have a playground to ride their bikes in all year and highlighted the fact that there are people out there supporting and speaking out about children with Autism.
