Concord Thornhill Regional Park Artificial Turf Field Grand Opening
On September 16th, members of the Thornhill community were invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council. The group proudly unveiled the new artificial turf soccer field in Concord Thornhill Regional Park. The funding partners for this project contributed a generous amount to aid in the construction of the field. The Glen Shields Futbol Club contributed $125,000 of their prize money from the BMO Team of the Week contest, in addition to $130,000 towards construction. This initiative was a testament to the hard work and diligence of the U11 girls’ team and Vaughan City Council who had been pursuing the development of a new athletic field for the past two years. The event was open to all members of the public, and included refreshments and a number of fun-filled games - including a scrimmage between City of Vaughan staff and Representatives from the Glen Shields Soccer Club.
