12th Annual Alternatives Golf Classic
Under beautiful sunny skies, the participants in this year’s Alternatives Golf Classic enjoyed a great day in the community for an even better cause. With both the East and West Courses in use at The Country Club, organizers were able to lure a considerable contingent of donors and guests, committed to helping Alternatives, a Day Program for adults with Intellectual Disabilities.
Prior to tee-off, participants enjoyed a delicious lunch – with veal sandwiches inside the Country Club and delicious Hero Certified Burgers’ sliders right by the carts! Once the round began, the Scramble/Best Ball format meant that, at some point in the day, someone was bound to hit a shot or two to try and propel their team to one of the first place prizes – there was one for the east and another for the west.
With the purchase of a passport, golfers could also take aim at a few of the prizes on the course, including Beat the Pro and Longest Drive.
After the round, a dinner was served up at Montecassino Woodbridge where prizes were handed out for the day’s winners, a silent and live auction took place and the raffle prizes were drawn. Also, at the end of the proceedings, a cheque was presented to Alternatives for $80,000 from the day’s proceeds.
With a fantastic turnout full of generous people, Alternatives can continue to help promote self care skills and boost self-confidence in the young adults they are pleased to serve from the community.
