VCHC's 5th Year Anniversary Event
Over 11,000 citizens of Vaughan are now
getting much needed medical care and related social programs thanks to an agency that did not
even exist just five years ago. The Vaughan Community Health Centre (VCHC) is a not-for-profit, community-governed organization that since 2009 has been providing primary health care, social programs, and health promotion services to the most vulnerable residents of the City of Vaughan. The VCHC continues to serve mainly marginalized Vaughan residents that experience barriers to accessing health care.
Since opening its doors at 9401 Jane Street in Vaughan on February 17, 2009, the VCHC has
served more than 11,000 vulnerable Vaughan residents particularly seniors, youth, and people
with mental health and addiction issues who are from low to moderate incomes, have low
English literacy, complex medical needs and may not have a health card. Over the course of 5 years, the VCHC has established approximately 80 collaborations with several organizations including York Region Community Health Services, City of Vaughan, Mackenzie Health Hospital and many other local schools and community organizations.
