Gardening is for the Birds

Toronto Region Conservation Authority teamed up Wild Birds Unlimited Thornhill for a special Gardening is for the Birds event. There was certainly a lot to learn for guests as Cynthia of Toronto Region Conservation Authority led a wonderful how-to workshop on creating a beautifully designed garden fit for songbirds. Guests were free to choose and arrange native plants, feeders, nesting boxes and water sources which are all needed for songbirds to survive in a garden. There was a large number of people showing up to the event with family and friends of staff as neighbouring businesses and people within the community. Most of the guests were bird lovers or looking to give their garden a fresh new look. The rest of the evening was marked by tons of other fun activities like prizes and special offers in addition to light refreshments provided to everyone who showed up. Many of the guests took the time to speak directly with Cynthia and ask for her advice on how to better take care of their own garden. TRCA is an organization dedicated to watershed management and promoting sustainability practices in the region of Toronto. For more information on the TRCA please visit their website
