Vaughan In Motion Walk to Cure Cancer
The Walk to Cure Cancer has become one of Vaughan in Motion’s signature events. Beyond that, the even that takes place annually inside Vaughan Mills has become somewhat of a local attraction as well, bringing people into Vaughan from all over Ontario to show unity and solidarity in the fight against cancer. The 5KM Walk annually helps Vaughan in Motion showcase its motto that “with our friends, cancer can be beaten!” This year, on top of the hundreds of walkers who took part in the event, a few community partners stepped up in a big way. Proceeds from the York Catholic District School Board’s Loonie & Toonie Day were presented to Vaughan in Motion while Arcadia School of Music presented $2500 worth of musical instruments to an elementary school music program that raised the most pledges for their school. Net proceeds from the event will be directed to the Mackenzie Health Foundation for Cancer Care to purchase equipment for Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital for the Chemotherapy unit. Vaughan in Motion to Cure Cancer is a 100% volunteer-staffed, not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting all cancer patients and their families who live in our community by raising vital funds for equipment and programs aimed at the prevention and treatment of all cancers. Since their first event in 1997, Vaughan in Motion has directed over $950,000 toward cancer care.
