Building Industry Luncheon

Over 1,000 members of the building community in the Greater Toronto Area gathered to support United Way York Region’s In Every Neighbourhood campaign (a three-year goal to provide 325,000 helping hands for people in municipalities across our region) at the 32nd Annual Building Industry Luncheon (BIL) at LeParc Dining and Banquet Hall in Thornhill. United Way York Region’s most successful one-day fundraiser, the BIL has raised over $8 million for strong neighbourhoods across York Region. This year it raised a record $829,250. The event also included a tribute to Bill Fisch, Chairman and CEO of The Regional Municipality of York and longstanding Chair of the BIL committee, who was honoured with United Way York Region’s Cornerstone Award. The recognition celebrates individuals or corporations whose long-standing support to the United Way through personal, corporate and in-kind gifts contributes significantly to human services across York Region. Mr. Fisch becomes only the second recipient of this coveted acknowledgement in United Way’s thirty-seven year history.
Jim V. De Gasperis, President and CEO, Condrain Group; and Marc A. Muzzo, President, Pemberton Group also served as this year's BIL Committee Chairs.
